National Health Accounts (NHA) is a tool being used today in more than 100 low- and middle-income countries designed to measure the flow of funds in the health sector, including public, private, and donor contribution.
NHA assists policymakers understand the health system in their country and to improve system performance, while provides information on a country’s current use of financial resources, health expenditure trends, and globally accepted indicators that allow for cross-country comparisons.
The USAID funded-Health Systems 20/20 project has created a web-based database that provides a platform for sharing NHA policy impact stories from around the globe.

How to participate to win a paid trip to the annual NHA Symposium in Beijing, China
- Write the story in 300 words or less, in English, clearly explaining how an NHA finding contributed to the policy discussion/decision/debate in your country
- The story must be from a country that has done a NHA
- Upload the story by May 25, 2009. Entries uploaded after May 25 will not qualify for the grand prize. When uploading your story to the database, please be sure to include an email address in the “Source” field
- Each approved story will qualify the author to be included in a raffle to win a paid trip to the annual National Health Accounts Symposium to be held in Beijing, China July 9 and 10. The more stories you upload, the better chance you have to win!
- The winner will be announced on June 1, 2009
